My bike is pissing oil all over the place 01 FXDX.
I Recently did a cam plate and oil pump upgrade. Installed everything and took it for a ride and when I got to the grocery store 40 miles away there was oil everywhere. I first though tit was a bad o ring on the breather and when I got home it was in fact torn off. I replaced it and even threw in some rtv to make double sure it wasn't gonna leak.
Well took it for a ride to TSC today and sure as **** it seems even worse of a leak.
I used new o rings on the pushrod tubes when I put it back together.
Also it may be a bad thread job on the threads of the external breather of the forward one, it got a little squirrely but it is snug as hell. And would that much oil really be coming out of the breather bolts?
The rocker cover gasket point is dry. So it can either be coming from the pushrod tubes or the breather bit both of those don't have THAT much oil going through them do they? In the pic you can see the drips on the ground from only stopping for 10 min at TSC so like I said a shitload of oil seems to be leaking somewhere but where?
Here is my leg after the 40 mile ride home at 75mph. It was on the forward control most of the trip. It's not just wet either it's soaked through, I had to wipe a bunch of oil off my leg. Anyone have some ideas where TF my oil leak is coming from?
After checking out the oil pump and rocker box gaskets for correct position, look a little more. Oil is heavier than air. Due to gravity, that under the carb filter is going to drip oil. Get rid of the filter and reroute the breather hoses, T'd together OVER the carb. Then run some breather hose under the seat and down by the swing arm.
Delete , pic's came through second time I opened the thread, forums been weird lately.
Seen pushrod tube seals blow oil like that, pinch or cut one they can make a hell of a mess, that's way too much for any breather issues bike would be running like **** if at all
