that was my origional plan...sand the chrome and spray them. but if it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg i'd be willing to go the powdercoat route.

I have a powder coat gun and it's not as easy as it seems to get GOOD quality. It takes more time than my Powder coat guy cost to do it. You have to use a fine media bead Not Play sand. So you get a smooth surface especially on chromw. You can tell in the finish from sand blasting using sand vs walnut media or fine sand. Then heat the part, pull out wipe down w/ acetone, spray powder coat, put in oven wait for it to flow out then adjust heat, let cool, and lets not talk about taping off or plugging holes. I did many of my parts on my bike and then I got smart and just took them to a powder coater. if you have free time then it's cool but 2 days or powder coating and the powder coat all over the place it was enough for me. don't think it's as easy it seems and that you can spray the coat in the garage and walk the part into the kitchen and presto. I had to re coat my triple tree clamp twice because it didn't look good and let me tell you sandblasting a powdercoat part is no fun that stuff is like rock.

Not to mention that the powdercoating is toxic when cooked in an oven. Can't use it to cook food in it afterwards.

invest in a sand blaster! i have one at work that i use. you can blast the cheap chrome off those parts and go crazy with black! easy and cheap fix for eliminating all the chrome you don't want.
