Hey, fellow forum mates! My 2009 Dyna Super Glide Custom has stock shocks which are okay riding solo, but now that my wife rides with me a lot, it’s kind of tough. Together, we weigh a little under 400 pounds (177 kg for the folks outside the US), and we feel every bump.
I haven’t tried adjusting the shocks yet, but since I don’t know how effective that will be, better shocks is in the back of my mind if adjusting doesn’t work; also, I’m thinking that better shocks can’t be a bad thing.
Anyone tackled this before? What worked out for you? Anything to steer away from? Good (or great) shock recommendations?
Legend 13 inch with the heavy springs. The base model Revo is fine and works great on Dynas. $725.
Life is short. Why ride a bike with crappy suspension?
I’m surprised more people haven’t chimed in here. Many people comment that the suspension upgrades is the best money they have spent. I found a pair of new HD Emulsion Shocks off a forum member for half price. Made a world of difference both solo and two up. The stock shocks are really crappy. Here is a pic of my shocks on the bike.
I've tried 3 different kinds of shocks. All were better than the stock units. No big surprise there. I stopped when I realized that with shocks you get what you pay for, so I ended up with Ohlins and the improvement is astounding. Call Howard at Motorcycle Metal and have him set you with a pair of shocks designed for your requirements.
