Im in the beginning process of replacing my rocker box gaskets because they are leaking on my 2015 dyna wide glide.
i removed the rear spark plug with no problem. But, as i was removing the front spark plug, half way out it started tightening up to the point it stopped. So, i tried screwing it back in with the socket the same way i was trying to remove it. It loosened up and tightened up freely. So, i tried removing it again. Same thing, about half way out (and spinning smoothly) the plug starts finding resistance to the point it stops.
im afraid to try and power through it in fear of stripping the socket threads.
any help you can throw at me to get this plug out would be very much appreciated.
** These plugs are a week old and the bike is kept spotless and in the garage. Im very confused?
I'm just curious as to what plugs you are using? So many people here say that this mechanic and that mechanic have said not to use anti-seize on plugs. I'm afraid to say it but it sounds like dis-similar metals working against each other, the plating is coming off the plug threads and jamming up in the threads in the head, also known as galling. Have you tried spraying some Liquid Wrench or WD-40 in the threads and slowly work it out. Myself, I'd put the rear plug back in, snug down the front and let a shop try it. That way if the plug pulls threads out at least it's some place that can repair the stripped hole. Head might have to come off. Good luck.
I think that is best. Because, i started loosening and tightening back and forth easily to see of it would maybe work loose with wd-40. Instead, the free play got less and less. Now its about to the point its a no go either way. I dont understand it. These new plugs are a week old?
Sounds like dry treads in bare aluminum. I would not even try wd40...way to low shear strength. Try working non metal anti seize Lb-8023 into plugs threads with q tip. Wipe off excess then heat carefully just maybe 150 degree's then let cool. Do this to help the anti seize to wick into the treads. Repeat several times to hopefully work the anti seize fully into the threads. Then try to slowly remove with turning back and forth to again distribute the anti seize. If it stills try's to lockup seek an indie that you feel is confident and experienced.
Or wait and I'm sure a certain John will post right after me as he has about a dozen times
Bingo

If you've done the back & forth thing and lost movement may as well get it to somebody who can do a thread repair if you can't, it's going to take threads out when it does come at this point and no amount of trick voodoo or wishing will prevent it. Sorry to be the bad news guy but it's reality where your at. Even if do manage to get the plug out damage is done.
Been down this road many times, this is in the bottom drawer of my tool box. Even made my own inserts for custom applications like the timing hole on old shovel & evo cases
