Electrical question for you all to ponder...... 2006 FXDLi my left side blinkers (both front and rear) when turned on blink normally for maybe the first three blinks then start blinking very fast. Right side acts normally. Nothing has been taken apart or messed with. Is there some sort of "Flasher Relay" on these bikes like a car would typically have? any other suggestions as a place to check? Thanks...
You may also have an exposed wire somewhere on the left side as well. My 06 FXDI had the same issue. I chased the wires and found the wiring under the rear fender dropped out of the clip and the tire rubbed on it enough to expose the wire. Sealed up the wire and the problem went away.
It could be a bulb on the way out. It will still flash, but the element is getting thinner/partially cracked though. That creates more resistance than a 'healthy' bulb, and can trigger the TSSM. It's a good idea to periodically change bulbs anyway, they are basically consumables... Another possibility is corrosion etc around the bulbs where they contact the socket (similarly makes a poorer circuit which can increase resistance and trigger the TSM). Try cleaning bulb base and socket with steel wool, and using dielectric grease to keep moisture away from the contacts...
