I'm thinking of ditching my chopped rear fender on my '17 FXDB for the full style from a '17 FXDL. I want to keep everything as neat and tidy as possible so I'm wondering if there's an easy harness swap for the new rear brake and license plate light? Looks like I have 22 but need 53???
Fender 59500255DH Wiring harness 68770-02B Tail light base 68066-99A FXDB docking hardware 53797-09 Taillight base screw and nut to attach base to fender 3022A and 7964 Two screws to mount tail light to base 68026-99
”22” plugs into the circuit board on the tail light base. The sigs then plug into that board, as does the rear tail light lens. (get a custom dynamics)
@Toecutter and @Mchad, thanks for the replies! I want to keep my rear turn signal setup on my FXDB (I have Custom Dynamics inserts) and add the fender-mounted taillight/brake light, so do i need a different harness between the turn signal and the board in the taillight?

Well... Bikes with center tail lights use 1156 bulbs (two conductor, basically on/off) in the sigs, while bikes like your street Bob use 1157 bulbs - run/ brake/turn. At a minimum, you’ll need 1156 reflectors, pins and connectors, as well as new LED inserts. I guess maybe you can repin the existing sigs to use the two place connectors but you’ll have to figure out which of the two positives to use on the LED’s - probably the bright circuit. But I have no idea if that’ll work...

Huh, I did not know that about the number designation. Thanks for the info!

Yep. You can get the 1156 (2 conductor) reflectors and connectors from your dealer if you want to do it right. Or like I said, you may be able to just get the 2-way connectors and only connect the ground and brake wires, leaving off the run wire, to it and reuse your 1157 reflectors and LEDs. Should be easy enough to try out. On 1157 rear LEDs, 12v to run wire lights LEDs dim. 12v to brake wire lights LEDs bright...

I'm going to go that route and replace the reflectors, etc. I see I can get 1156 Custom Dynamics Pro-Beam signals for just about 100 bucks for the rear, then I'd still match the rest of my setup upfront.

The pro beams are great. I have them in both bikes. I really like the metal lens shroud (extra $ though) - really finishes up the look.
