8/92 fxrs-sp
Anyways i hope all is well in these crazy *** times....dont even get me going on politics.
I have a potential purchase here & need some advice or basically just more people to say "DO IT!" I have a customer who i got to bullshittin with & he told me about an old harley he has. Hasnt run in ten years he said & just been covered up in the garage. Said he thought it was an FXR but not sure sub model. So i go look at it and its a 93 FXRS-SP. Im no fxr expert but i have done some research. This bike is CLEAN as far as paint goes. No rust or any real oxidation, 15K on the odometer. Aftermarket buckhorns installed but he has the original bars with the nipple for the front forks. The saddlebags that come with it are not original according to him but im not sure it came with them in the first place. Air cleaner says low rider sport. Dual disc front, mag wheels front & rear. Black with like a red pin stripe.
The license plate was last tagged in 2005. The fuel looks that old too......inside fuel tank looks like potato chips. No joke. He did have the valve shut off so carb looks clean, he had the bowl off to check it i guess, its still apart. Tires have tread but are junk. Fork seals leaking, he said brake fluid leaking he says from master for front brakes, i never looked at that. Leather looks great, honestley not a scratch on the damn thing. Some dampness on the engine but who knows as far as leaks. Engine oil was a pinch low on the stick but clean. Did not check any other fluids. Lidds were off the battery, dry as a bone so no crank.
Im going back over tonight to get it cranking, i figure if the engine spins im happy, not willing to run that **** from the tank into it. I wonder if i can rig up a remote fuel can just to hear it run? i didnt look real hard for the inlet line.
Long story short, all the above being said, not running, hows about 2500 bucks sound? We agreed on that price but id really like to at least spin the motor over.
New Tires
Fork Seals
Battery
Tank cleanout (worst job ever).
You could have 1200 bucks into this bike to get it on the road, that`s assuming the engine and driveline are in good condition.
