Probably too late but you shouldn't put the pump and plate back on as one unit...bad things can happen...way worse than a pinched oring. Plus you need to realign the oil pump anyway. Those pistons sure were clean though. Should be a good runner when you're done.
Thanks... When I pulled the cam plate and pump as a unit I never turned the crank and it all went back together into the new o-ring seal effortlessly..
Okay so tonight I got a little bit done.. I was able to get the cylinders back on and torque them down so I could figure out my piston height in the cylinder. The dial indicator shows top dead center on the piston and I was able to measure .004" on the rear and almost identical on the front The front might have been .0035".. So just so you know that when I've always used .005" in calculating compressions etc, I was pretty close... So I think I'll stick with that number for pre determining my calculations..
After getting my piston deck clearance, I put on the .030" head gaskets and cylinder heads. I did lower the bike to the ground just to stabilize it so I could properly torque the cylinder heads to the cylinders. Yes I did use lube on the studs and on the bottoms of the heads of the head bolts.. It's the only way to get a truly accurate torque number and that's all for tonight... I did torque them to Cometic's specification ending in 42 Ft lbs....

This pic is the front lifter bore's..Quick question about the positioning of the lifters. With the oiling port on the outboard side of the lifter boars, Do I match the lifter port to the boars. In other words are they directional? I should have paid more attention but I can't seem to remember..Thanks
