Default Reduced Reach Question

Hello I have a 99 Wide Glide with forward Controls which I would prefer to keep. But at 5'7" my short leg syndrome makes it tough. I know there are reduced reach kits but everything seems to be for a 2006 and up. Is there a reason these will not work for an older Dyna? Or does anyone have any other suggestions that may work?

I have a 1998 Dyna that had the stock mid controls. I installed the Further Forward Mid Control kit that is intended for '06 and up bikes and I had no trouble at all. Fit perfectly. Your milage may vary though.

I just noticed in your post that you have a Dyna Wide Glide. Thoes shifters are set up different, the shifter shaft is behind the primary cover, as opposed to a Low Rider or Super Glide Dyna where the shifter shaft goes through the primary cover. There would be considerable work involved to swap your forward controls for mids, but it has been done. Do some research, there may be a kit available that Im not aware of.

Further forward mids, Cherokee seat and Bitubo 13 inch shocks seems to have my seating position right. Had reduced reach forwards but don’t compare to the comfort of the further forwards. I am not much taller I say I am 5 “9.

How about a forward moving type seat so you're closer?

Dang, I didnt think to suggest this. I have a Le Pera Daddy long legs seat that moves me back for my long legs. Le Pera and some others make seats that move you forward. Maybe a few more bucks, but less work than switching controls. Good idea brakeless.

Default Reduced reach

Oh yeah Le Pera makes a reduced reach seat called Up Front Silhouette. I've had that one on my Switchback for the last 7 years. Moves the rider 3" closer to the bars. Works for me very well....

I never thought about the seat. That definitely may be an option. I have thought about going to a mid control as a last option. Have to do something as it is now I am not getting much rear brake engagement and dont feel real confident in an emergency situation.

Can the brake pedal be modified? Maybe somehow bent towards you. Cut and rewelded? Add a block to the contact area? Just throwing out ideas....

They make this but it is for a 2003 or newer. But I don't see much difference between this and a 99.
