97 wideglide wont start

97 wideglide wont start
went to ride my glide to work today, turned the ignition on pushed the starter and turned over once then a "snap" sound and nothing no lights or anything. What should I look for first? or did the battery just die? the bike has been fine until now

I worked on it last night. checked all fuses. all good, checked the circuit breaker had power their too 12.4 volts. so it looks like its the battery. I took some wire and hooked it up to a car battery(I don't have any jumper cables)and when I turn on the ignition switch I have power up at the gauges.The wire I had was to smal to try to start it.I think the battery had a internal short.The battery has like12.4 voltsI just dont know what that snap sound was

Your issue sounds a little different than mine. I had lights, but bike would start.
I wound up (done this twice now) cleaning the batteryconnections/cablesand grounding connections/cable with rubbing alcoholand the bike started right up. Ensure you have the long, rectangle bolt in your connections where the screw is inserted, I was missing one.
