10,000 miles and 13 months left on warranty and no problems yet. I plan to have more than 20,000 by the time the original warranty runs out. If it's gonna break, I want it to be under warranty.
my 06 wide glide is almost two years old with about 18,500 miles on it. I've had no problems, yet, with the bearing. I asked at the 15K service if they were going to replace it and I was told no. I brought up that I had to sign some paper stating that the moco would replace it after 15k miles and they said that that was no longer the case (which I knew already since I rec'd something in the mail about a year ago stating that they no longer felt it was necessary for the replacements).
This is getting long, I know, but recently - in the last month or so - I notice that after the engine is good and hot that I get a new noise now when I put the bike in neutral and let the clutchout. It's just a noise but not something that is causing me concern at this point.
thats the way it was when mine went out.. 8400 miles on first. sounds like a old steel roller skate..
My first went out at 7k,,The second went at 14k,, now there is a new noise coming from the primaryarea at 16k...So far dealers have taken care of it............First in Springfield Mo. Second in Wichita Ks. I dont think I want to leave Houston again till I figure out the new noise................
The dealer here says 'Oh thats just normal Harley noise' I'm wondering why it took 16k miles to start making this 'normal' noise?
Thats not normal for the inner bearing....even the 06. I would have the MoCo involved on that one...
Sorry to say it is PERFECTLY NORMAL on the 06 Dynas. Mine went at 8K, and still waiting for the stealer to fix. Suprising how long you can go with a bad primary bearing...... I am at 16K now. Stealer was holding me to the 15K mile replacement. I HATE HD Dealerships. Nuff said.
When I changed my fluids in June I had no metal dust on any of the magnets. On August 3rd when I changed the fluids again, All were clear except for the primary. It had a decent amount of metal powder, but no flakes or chunks. I wiill see if it gets worse. Let me know if your bearing failures first signs were more metal powder or worse.

How long after you noticed the sound till the bearing gave out? I'm hoping it'll hold out for another 1,200 miles till my next service.
Hey all, This is the second time in 16k miles I will have replaced parts on my 06 in the primary bearing area. This is definetely a problem that HD is not acknowledging. I've been waiting 3 weeks for the parts to come in as they are on backorder because of the demand to replace the part. I finally got online to research the problem and discovered this forum and topic. I'm pissed off that HD has not sent out a recall of somekind or even acknowledge the problem. I've got a 7 year warranty so not worried about it but it's ridiculous!
1. Has anyone written HD about this?
2. I've read other forums where individual dealerships are having new owners sign a waiver acknowleding the problem and offering free service every 15k.
