Default handlebar problem on my 07 FXD

I recently installed a set of risers on my superglide and no matter what I try I cannot get them straight. The right side is back about a half inch further than the left.I have tried everything I can think of and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so how did you correct it ?

Hey - just went thru the EXACT same thing (right side back and bars off about 5-10 degrees) when installing 3" domed risers with individual top clamps on my bobstah - tried everything from new dampers to new bolts, switching left to right risers, turned one 180 degrees, always came out with right side back and left side forward. And then it finally dawned on me!! Leaving risers bolted firmly to the triple tree, I turned my wheel all the way to the left fork stop, loosened top clamp bolts but NOT completely, pushed forward hard on the right side of the bars down low, and back on the left, then re-tightened the top clamp bolts on the risers while holding bars "in place" - and, VOILA! Straight bars! Now, it did take a bit of contortionist wrangling holding bars and tightening clamps simultaneously (a third hand would've helped here to keep bars from rotating forward when pushing forward on 'em), but problem fixed in 3-5 minutes. Hope this helps!

It is all to do with the tightening sequence of the clamp bolts.
I had the same problem with mine, was like it from new.
When I fitted the Bob bars, I took carefull notice of bar movement as I did the 4
clamp bolts up. you can see the bars moving as you tighten up the bolts.

soarer - fundamentally you are correct, however, without putting pressure against the bar as I indicated above to keep them straight, the sequence did not make much difference, although a "wrong" sequence made the problem worse - in fact, without the top clamp(s) tightened at all, the bars still were misaligned in my case.

Which ever way works I suppose.
I still think my tripple trees are not lined up either.
