Ready to build
I have had my 01 DWG for 2 1/2 years now. Been in the family since new, so a little sentimental value. Its in need of a lot of resto. Chrome flaking all over. As it is an older bike, parts seem a bit harder to find. Any recommendations to sources would be great. Would really like to black it out. Forks and triples are in good shape, but the bar the headlight mounts to, is pretty pitted. Any idea where to find this piece? Looked several places, but cant find it. Thanks in advance.

You could consider having the pitted parts reconditioned. If you're not in a huge hurry and are doing the install yourself, having parts powdered is cheaper than purchasing new. There are also chromers who do very nice work.

Ronnie's Parts Finder is an online parts diagram tool for a long list of years and models of Harley. Your bike is in there; it will help you identify the part numbers and names, and if you need to order replacements, you can go through their website, Surdyke, or New Castle for OEM parts, or aftermarket sites like Revzilla or JP Cycles. As pointed out by BUILT, you can find local powdercoaters and chromers if you want to refinish the originals. I think there might be some chromers in the vendor section on this forum.

Go here Vehicle Lookup | Harley-Davidson SIP and enter your VIN, you'll be amazed at what you'll find. Also, I 2nd Surdyke for sourcing parts.
