Default Can it be done? Starter jackshaft replacement

Ok. So I installed the crappy Ultima open belt primary in my bike last week and it was working fine until the starter Jackshaft either came loose or got jammed up in the poorly designed starter Jackshaft cover. Destroyed the jackshaft so I figured while I'm at it I'm going to go ahead and upgrade the starter motor along with a new jackshaft. So I ordered a All ***** 1.4 starter with the All ***** one-piece starter jackshaft. The only issue I'm having is that in order for me to install the jackshaft correctly I need to modify the Jackshaft cover. I would have to take out the brass seal inside and maybe grind out the opening even more because the end of the starter jackshaft is bigger in diameter. I really could return and get Ultima brand but it's crap. This All ***** jackshaft seems pretty solid. But if I modify this cover I should be fine though right? After all, the covers purpose is simply to cover the jackshaft right? It doesn't serve any other function right? Also instructions on the starter say to upgrade battery cables to 4 gauge. I keep finding sets online but without the ground cable, does that need to be switched to 4 gauge too?

I had an all ***** one piece shaft on my old Dyna. I don’t remember having to modify the primary cover for it to work.

I upgraded to the All ***** 1.4 starter and didn't have to modify any cover.
I made up new cables using braided welding #4 cables.
Been years now, No problems.
