Have the V & H slip ons on my 07' Street Bob and did not re-map. No problems. You will love the sound!

I got my cycleshack slip-ons at www.fullmooncycles.comthey were about $150.00 with $10.00 shipping, fast service! As far as them being loud, thats one man's (or woman's, sorry ladies!) preference over another. I think they sound just right! Any quieter, and you're back to stock , IMO.
You can run them as long as you want UNTIL you change your intake A/C. Even with slip-ons, if you go to Hi-flow A/C you'll need a remap,PCIII, or whatever you choose. You start to affect performance when you change the intake.

I am using the V and H Slip Ons with the Fuel Pak and a SE Air Cleaner. The throttle is criper, and the bike runs great with the added benefit of15 degrees cooler. Better than I expected regarding ease of install and program.

Ditto. I found a brand new set of cycle shack slip-ons on ebay for $80 and I think they sound great. They might be a touch louder than the v&h pro pipes I have on another bike but I like the sound. Don't forget, cycle shack makes some pipes labeled screamin' eagle. It ain't like they don't know how to make pipes and mufflers.

I bought my cycle shack slip-on (MS-129) on ebay from Hales HD in Milwaukee. They were closing them out last December. They're great mufflers and have been around forever. The made made HD's SE mufflers for years. My PC III & Ness BS will be here this week so I'll get them on.

I put on the Vance & Hines Straightshot slipons, Vance & Hines Fuelpak and Screaming Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner kit. I got my stuff from American Motor Classics (ebay retailer near Philadelphia). Bike runs great and sounds great for the money spent. Low end (0-30 is has more crisp throttle response) and the bike now pulls like crazy in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears - much better than before the upgrades.

so if i have read the other posts correctly, i can slap on some slip ons, vh or cycle shacks, and wait for the other mods (a/c and pc)? if so how long can i get away with it? i'm just going to rattle can them black so i want to get into this cheep. but i will not do it if it will adversly effect my ride....
I got the cycle shacks off ebay for $160 NIB shipped. There are better deals out there if you're patient (like shown above). I too plan to paint them black, and I didn't want to ruin a more expensive pair if my project doesn't turn out well.

I really like the sound of the cycle shacks. They are MUCH louder than the stock pipes with a better sound quality. However, they are still a bit quiter than friends bikes with full pipes (V&H, Python3, Milwaukee drags).

The chrome quality of the Cycle Shacks is NOT show quality....that's why they're cheap. It looks good enough for a casual cruiser, but not if you're building a show queen.

Running the Cycle Shacks with no other mods WILL cause the engine to run lean. however, you'll be able to get away with it quite a while. It's not "Instant Death" lean condition, but definately leaner than "perfect". You may lose a little bit of torque, because of loss of backpressure, but that will be the same with just about any pipe you use. Torque cones may help.

I've been told the the Fuel Pak is fine if you never plan on making any engine mods, otherwise get the PCIII.

Hmm, I didn't notice that but I'm no expert. I just went out and compared my cycle shack slip ons on my deuce to the screamin' eagle slip ons on my wide glide and again to the v&h 2 into 1 pro pipes on the heritage. I can't see the difference in luster or finish. I think the cycle shacks are beautiful but so are the others.

You think maybe cycle shack is inconsistent or something?

I like the sound of the cycle shacks best of all of those, but that's obviously personal taste. I don't think any is the loudest - they all will bark at you. However, the cycle shacks are on a TC88i and the others are on evos so that's not fair...

Maybe. Mine aren't as smooth and mirror-like as my stock muffs. If you look closely, they almost has a faint orange-peelish finish. It's really only noticable when compared side-to-side with the stock muffs......but it's still there.
