New to this guys, please help.
after a few days of searching and reading i need specific advice.
i hate the stock pipes on my 07 street bob. the pipes i want....and the pipes i can afford are two different things. want = reignhart crosbacks or rb lsr 2-1. afford= v and h straight slipons.
i want both power and sound inprovements.
i found the slip ons for $216.95. i think that is good? has anyone used these pipes with the v&h fuel pac?
or should i get a pc III ? how do i get rid of the football a/c for one of those great round ones you guys are putting on your bobs?
thanks
You will like the sound of the v&h. As far as the fuel pack, no. Use the PCIII you will love it. The adjustability of it is way better than the fuel pak. With the PCIII you will never need anything else no matter what you do to your bike.
Get cycleshacks, they cost less, and sound great! Then when you eventually buy full pipes, you won't feel bad about the wasted $...Thats what I did, am doing..just my .02
I've got the V&H slipons w/ the fuelpac and like the setup. With V&H you have the quiet baffle option to keep neighbors happy. I also put on a Arlen Ness big sucker A/C but haven't gotten a smaller round coverfor it yet.
Hey ,I would wait till I can get the pipes I wonted, you have too look at iteverytime you get on it. I think if you buy the pipes that you really do not want . It would eat you up everyday you looking at it . No from experience .
so if i have read the other posts correctly, i can slap on some slip ons, vh or cycle shacks, and wait for the other mods (a/c and pc)? if so how long can i get away with it? i'm just going to rattle can them black so i want to get into this cheep. but i will not do it if it will adversly effect my ride....
As far as I can tell, from reading this site and others and talking with the guys atthe dealership,slip-ons alone do not require a re-map. So, I guess that means you can run them for as long as you like with no adverse effects. A re-map or PCIII isnt required until you go with a full exhaust system or high flow A/C. At least thats what Im going on. Ill be buying slip-ons for now too.

If you are going to paint them black, get the Cycle Shacks. They are LOUD.
Vance & Hines sound way better and have a lower rumble, IMO. But, I'd hate to see them painted. You may even be able to find an older set of Screamin' Eagle II slip-ons, no matter the condition, since you'll be painting them. If you are jsut putting on slip-ons for now, there is no need for either a FuelPak or PCIII. That is only needed if you change to full pipes and also change out the A/C.
ok cant find a good price anywhere on cycle shack slip ons. there is one on e-bay for $155 plus another twenty for shipping. heck for 40 more bills i can get the vance and hines. any suggestions?
