I have a 2008 FXDF Fat Bob. It's been sitting for a few month and will not start (unsurprisingly). I emptied the tank and filled with non-ethanol, but I imagine the internals (injectors, etc.) are clogged with ethanol residue, or whatever the issue is that's caused by that fuel when it sits too long. I did a quick search, but was unable to find guidance. Can anyone point me at the correct thread that explains which parts I should be pulling and cleaning to restart this bike? I would assume the injectors and maybe the fuel line and filter? It ran perfectly before being parked and started (for a second) using a quick spray of starter fluid, so it seems that the air and spark are present, just not the fuel. Thanks!
Just sitting for a few months doesn't seem enough to clog injectors, but cleaning them would be a good way to start.
A very good fuel system cleaner is Seafoam but it the bike doesn't run it won't do much good. How many miles since the fuel filter was last replaced? You might also have a tiny hole in the gas line inside the tank. Look inside while you prime the pump, might be able to see or hear a leak.
To the OP , have you considered pulling the injectors and soaking them in a shallow solution of fuel/seafoam to soften /remove the deposits on the injector spray nozzles?
Yes, just wanted to mine the knowledge of the experts here in case there are any other parts beyond the injectors I should be paying attention to for this condition, such as the fuel filter, fuel lines, etc. Thanks for the reply!
