New Indian Chief

Will this new Indian inspire Harley to bring back the dyna line? Sure looks like a modern dyna.......

The frame section under the seat reminds me a bit of the FXR, but the angle of the rear shocks just doesn’t make sense to me. Seems like it would limit the possible amount of travel of the rear shocks.

I spent a few minutes looking at one up close at the Indian booth downtown Sturgis. I think they did a really good job with the styling on this bike, looks traditional enough but not an outright copy of an HD. Way better looking than the new Sportster, in my opinion.

i test rode the new Chief and was concerned about the rear suspension also. It looked too much like the Scout suspension. I test rode a Scout a few years back and the suspension left a lot to be desired. I expected similar results with the new Chief. The new Chief ride is better than the Scout. My Chief Vintage rides way better than either of the other Indians. In fact, I had to invest in aftermarket shocks for the Ultra Limited just to make it approach a similar riding level of the Vintage.

There's a big gap in ride comfort on the Indian models.
