so as everyone knows, bikes are cheap right now. I found a few 07 street bob (denim black) for 12,999. On top of that I would get the employee discount, so it would be down to 10,400 + tax. they setup and freight fees are already built in. The problem is, and I am sure this may flame up some bob riders, it is not my favorite bike. I like the fat bob more. Is the deal too good to pass up though? I am going to call and see what they are getting rid of the low riders for too, because i like that bike a lot (but the downfall there is that they dont have it in my preferred color). decisions decisions.
I look at it this way. I could have gotten a Street Bob for a lot less money than I spent on my Wide Glide, but that would not be the bike that I want. The money that you spend on making you Street Bob look like a Fat Bob will probably be more than the difference in price of the two bikes.
It looks like your in Milwaukee, have you ever heard of Lake Shore Harley in Illinois? It's on Rt. 94 just past Great America. I was there yesterday and they had 5 or 6 St. Bobs for $11,300, they are 07's. I know because I looked and I was pissed that I paid $13,200 for a standard black 06 last year. It's worth a call and Lake Shore is only an hour from Milwaukee. I got my bike from them and they were cool to deal with, and $1,000 cheaper than Uke's in Kenosha.
I think the fat Bob is the final decision. I showed both bikes to the better half and she said something to the effect of "if you are getting a bike, I at least get to say which one it is." she agreed with my initial instince of the fat bob so I think i may just be overthinking it. Also, it is good to keep her happy since she has something i want.
for sure. Especially if she approves the price! I was also looking at the nightster. she said "i would rather have you spend a little more to get the bike i like". works for me!
I don't care how good the deal is, there's no point in getting a bike you don't really like. Every time you look at it or ride it you'll wish you had gotten the other one.
And yes, spending over 10 grand for a bike is much easier ifshe likes it.
it is a pretty awesome price, but like others have said, when i buy something that is not exactly what i was looking for, i always regretted it. i am not going to let that happen with this bike. I am already planning upgrades...handgrips, smoked led lights and blinkers, seat, possibly pegs.
