I just had Bumpus Harley Davidson install a new Michelin Scorcher 31 80/90 x 21" stock front tire.
its been 3 days now and everything seems good. So, i decided to rip on it down a back road today. At about 80mph i started feeling a shake.
i stayed in it all the way to 100mph and tge shake never went away. Its not real bad but enough to get your attention. I pulled the clutch in at 100mph to see if it woukd quit. But, it was no different. As soon as i got below 80 mph it shaking goes away.
can i safely assume Harley Davidson didnt balance my front wheel correctly, or at all?
Check to see that the tire is properly mounted to the correct orientation on the rim and then check the air pressure. if the tire is on the rim correctly, add a couple more pounds of air and see if that helps. An unbalanced wheel will hop not shake.
That's a very good reason to change yer own tires. I've been doing that for years. 07 Dyna 104,000, 04 XLH 40,000, 77 XLH 4,000. Average mileage per tire - rear - 10,000, front -15,000. Worth the investment of a tire changing tool.
I like that setup you have in the garage!
im taking her back to Harley Davidson this morning. Ill post what the verdict was when i get back. Im sure its balance. 🤷🏻♂️

A 'hop' feels like you're riding over a washboard surface (handlebars stay stable.)
A 'shake' feels like smooth road but the handlebars want to quickly wiggle left to right and back again, sometimes leaving you with the feeling that if left to do it's thing it might result in a 'tank slapper' situation.
