But, if the bike had stock shocks on it, and I was looking to replace them, they probably wouldn't be my first choice. I did a lot of research a couple of years back and decided to spend my money elsewhere. Ohlins are the top of the list for me. There were two others, less pricey, on the list, but I don't recall the names off the top of my head, and can't find the list...

For a little more coin, you can get some custom (for your weight and riding style) Ohlin shocks from Howard at https://motorcyclemetal.com . He gives a discount to forum members. You don't need piggyback, top of the line shocks. Howard offers less expensive options that will blow away the 444s.

the reason i went with progressive shocks is because they are local to me and they do all the road testing on my roads. and since they are shitty California roads so i know they work great on other roads that arent as shitty as CA roads.
