07 dyna primary oil leak

Bob FXDB, neither do I. I swear that I have looked for cracks and have not overfilled the primary. It is defiantly not engine oil, it is clear oil and not stained brown and the trans is still full. kind of hard to measure the primary but I will try and see if there is a way I can see if that is where I am loosing it from. I will try the dye idea and run it for a bit to see what I can find out. I will say though that when I replace the inner primary seal the leak goes away until I go for another long ride. I just don't understand why it keeps happening on long rides, am I just pushing the bike to hard? Thanks for the help.

Shifter shaft seal maybe... been a recurrent problem on my 2011. Change out the tranny fluid for something with color or try cleaning and then puffing baby powder up between the inner and outer primary to find the trail of the leak....

not yet. I ordered a new inner primary seal, derby cover gasket, primary gasket kit, and a new shift shaft seal. I am going to wash the crap out of it, run it to the bar and back so I can get a trace of where is comes out from and then change everything. like I said before though, I have gotten it to stop but as soon as I run it hard across state lines it starts all over again. the trans bearing is back ordered and must come from china because there is no eta on when they are going to be able to fill that order. (I placed the order for the bearing over a month ago)

It's difficult to trace exactly where it's coming from. Had a leak like that twice myself (2007 DYNA FXD) and both times it was the shift shaft seal. Have you replaced that seal before, yourself. It's not difficult, just have to remove a lot of **** to get in there. I bought the tool that seats the seal. I also wrapped the shift shaft with electrical tape so as I slipped the seal over the shaft it would not tear on the splines. Did this because I read that the slightest tear will cause it to leak.
