I think about any of the mini-tachs from Harley will work. You just gotta get the right mounts. You need a hot wire and a ground and a tach signal. I just clipped into the speedometer wiring for the hot wire and ground and you have to run a wire back to the ecm and plug into the number three opening(best I can remember). I used a two and five eights tach made for an fxd35 on mine, the two inch just seems a little to small to me,might be cause my eyes are old. There's some posts with real good installation instructions floating around here some where if you do a search.
Ok,I found my card with the part numbers. If you want a two and five eights mini tach, you'll need a 68986-04 kit,a 67524-04 gauge housing and a 67206-04 mounting backet which bolts on top of the handlebar clamps. This keeps your tach kinda back out of the way of a windshield. You can also use a 67128-04 base bracket which replaces the hadlebar clamp and a 67676-04 tach bracket. These last two parts list for about one fourty,if anybody need them I've got a set for sale. All these parts are in the multi-fit section of the new catalog pages 650 to 654.
I was in the same position before I put my tach on. I thought the on the handlebar tach was GAWDY and would interfere with my riding (not to mention all the stuff you had to buy to put it on) so I went with an ALLOY ART on the handlebar nut tach. Bought a Harley Tach (black) and ordered my tach housing from "alloyart.com" (go to products, gauge mounts, I think it is an 'sm'). Followed the service manual install instructtions and I LOVE IT! The housing is kind of pricey ( $190.95) but I figured I would spend as much getting all the mounts and housing from the MOCO and then still not like the looks. Good luck on your decision. If I can get my digital camera to work I will post a picture.
I have an 06 street bob and had the same question. I stopped in the my HD shop and we worked on a plan for about two hours! Here is what we found. I am in the process of doing this now and I will let you know how it goes.
1. The street bob and low rider tanks are the same so the tank console will fit.
2. Once you have the console purchase the tach that will fit below the the speedo and wire it in. The tach is 3.5 inches across. Stock for low riders.
I hate messing with wires, so I am purchasing the parts through ebay, and will have HD install. The turn signal indicators will be located ner the handlebars. I was told the console only comes in chrome, but I found one on ebay in flat black.
