I second cadman, tires that wear soonerare not necessarily bad tires..softer, gripier tires wear out faster than the hard long lasters. Depends on how you ride..fast short trips on curves..long trips, straight roads..I guess there is a happy medium somewhere.
They make gezer tire with hard rubber and lower speed rating. That is what Dyna tire are different size tire so people will use the right tire. Here is what Dunlop said about that:
Originally designed for racing but now incorporating refinements to meet the demands of sport and sport-touring riders, the K591 is approved by Harley-Davidson for its sport models and carries a V speed rating.
Buy Metzler 880's, Metzler 880's, Metzler 880's! You won't believe the difference in tracking and handling.
This is kinda like an oil thread its about personal choice
I agree with the Metzlers They handle far better and IMHO are the best tires out there. If you are only looking for tires to last longer the aint for you
I'm on my second SE GT502-R. got about nine or ten thousand out of the first one. Looks good, sticky, handles good and I like the matching Gt502-F front tire, little lower sidewall than stock, little more tire on the road and matches the rear. These tires handle good in the rain, too.I have no problem with the wide tire, plan on using them as long as they continue to produce them.
I forgot they have warn about there bead not working with harley rims
I find this statement interesting since the bead appears to be the standard bead on the harley rims. Is there a link to this info? I have a metz ME 880 set on my 06 WG and the beads appear normal. I have 3k miles on the tires now and have had no issues. Of course 3k miles is nothing and even if was more means nothing if there truely is a issue. Now I run a 170/60/17 tire and I ran a Dunlop D220 170/60/17 before mounting the metz. No issue with the D220 accept the quick wear of only 5k miles before seeing the radial belting.
