I plan to change my handlebars. How easy is it to do it yourself? Where will I find the plugs on the loom that run into the handlebars on the 2009 Fat Bob (under the tank?)? As I understand these plugs need to be de-pinned so that the wiring loom can be removed from the handlebar.... Regards!
I got the wiring out but it has the "big" plugs on left and right sides... I did not want to de-pinn, so I cut them off - will have to solder back with some heat shrink... Regards!
I am new to motos, buying my first ever bike in 2020... a 2011 FB. The bike was not well taken care of and it needed some issues ironed out at first and required alot of TLC.
I decided to change handlebars myself as I did not want to pay. I got the factory service manual (online), did a lot of youtube and it was quite a project but if I can do it.... so can you.
13" tree huggers were a pain to feed wires through. Even a phone call to LA Choppers told me they are not easy to wire but once done.... he said I would like them.
I went extensions (no solder) and are holding up well. Longer cables (IIRC everything was found at Dennis Kirk)

How tall are you? Those look about perfect height.

Note to anyone not familiar with working on electrical systems: put the wire cutters away, this is not the way to do it.
It would have taken 5 minutes to de pin this connector (even less time if it is a Deutsch connector).
This is an incredibly poor way to work on an electrical system and is how a motorcycle eventually becomes an electrical nightmare.
Rant over.

Been doing this for nearly 56 years and never had an issue!!
You`ve been doing this for 56 years and you had to start this thread about a simple handlebar change, and you think the way to remove a connector is to hack it off with wire cutters...
