CV carb question
I don’t believe there’s a manifold air leak but I’ll recheck. Am I understanding correctly that turning in the mixture screw leans the mixture while turning it out richens it? If I can’t get it to stumble turning it all the way in, isn’t the idle jet too big?
Yep, lean is in. How's yer MPG? Low? Might wanna check out the enrichener valve, it might be sticking. I had a similar problem with my old 96 Wideglide. After tearing apart the CV-40 and rebuilding it that's what I found. So never used the "choke" after that. Set mix at 2 1/2 turns out. Test Ride. Decel popping, turn out (richer) 1/4 turn at a time till it's back to "normal."

A side note on the CV-40. I converted EFI to CV-40 on my 07 Dyna 70,000 miles ago. Could never get great performance out of it after many tweekings. When I hit 100,000 I treated it to a 105" kit (after checking crank run-out.) Now it should have been great but it really wasn't. Did some research and found it's got limits based on CID. Swapped CV-40 for a Mikuni HSR 42. After dialing it in, I now have an Inter Continental Ballistic Dyna Missile. Still get 42/46 mpg . . . IF I stay with a light throttle.
