I've ridden when it was too cold to ride, now I ridden when it was almost too hot to ride, for me anyway. Started out nice, 80 and sunny, went and ate Chinese in Tenn. Went by and check on Mom, then headed home. 105 and sunny. Hot wind blowing on my arms, I mean burning my arms. Had to stop every 30 minutes for water and to pat my arms down. I needed a long sleeve shirt. Ihave a soft six packHD cooler on my luggage rack that held ice for over 4 hours today. Maybe that's why I stopped evey 30 min.
been rough here in ohio the last 2 or 3 weeks too. some days the heat index was over 115. like 19 days in a row over 90 here. kinda rare and new record hi temps have been reached .
ya ya i live in the blazin desert of Phoenix, Az and have braved temps at 115 to 119!!!! it wasnt exciting and im by no means bragging cuz who braggs about cookin like a thanksgiving turkey!!! but its my only mode of transport, plus its only 3 months its like that the other 8-9 months its sum of the best riding weather around. water is your friend here, and lots of it!! lol stay cool guys
I always ride with long sleeves, even when the temps gets over 100. Guess the Army has a reason that we keep our sleeves down even in Iraq. Gives a little protection and slows down the water loss. I actually feel cooler also.
I'm in AZ also. On long rides always wear a long sleeve shirt and gloves.
My comute is only 10 miles, and I leave in the dark, but on the way home you can feel the heat coming off every thing. Need gloves just to deal with the levers. Night rides are great! It may still be 95 but with out the sun it is bareable.
But like hounddog says, 9 months of great riding weather. Summer is good.
