I just picked up a 2008 Lowrider (I will take some pics this weekend) and would like to get some internal wired handlebars. I would like to also keep them as close to the stocklayout as possible. I went to two dealers and they both said that no one makes such handlebars. They said that they have some handlebars that would fit, but they would be taller, or wider,or both. The service manager said that they could modify my stock bars, butit would take 2-3 hrs labor (at $95/hr).
Does anyone know of any internal wired handlebars that are close to the stock Lowrider handlebars?
Just drill them yourself. I've done it on many, manybikes. I suppose that a set of bars with holes is probably slightly less stong than an un-drilled set, but I've never had a set crack. Most of the jobs I've done have been for friends, so I would certainly know about any cracking or other failure.
2-3 Hours labor? Hopefully, that would include R&R. That does not sound right. It takes me about 5-7 hours to do a handlebar job with internal wiring, but the actual drilling part takes less than an hour (drill and de-burr the holes).
