I wouldn't mind a bagger someday, hell if I could afford two I'ld have one as my second bike now.
I almost bought an Electraglide Standard sometimes I wish I did.If you do the math the Electraglide Standard is the best deal HD has going.Embarrasingly I let my wife talk me out of it, on the practical side I don't tour, and well like she said "Don't only old people ride those?" and the classic"Electraglide sounds like the name of an electric wheelchair or one of theose electric scooter things ." Still for around 3K more than I paid for my Bob I could have had a much more comfortable bike with a fairing and real saddle bags.
I think a lot of us sometimes wish we'd bought something different. There's been time where I wish I'd have bought a Street Bob or Wideglide instead. However I do love my bagger.
I'm with you on that one sleepman. After taking my first "long" trip 9it was only about 500 plus round trip) on my SuperGlide I was pretty jealous of the bagger guys I passed. I think alot of us wish they had bought something else at one time or another and that's just human nature. The grass is always greener right?
It even seems to me that a lot of Harley riders on the road going the other way often look longer at my WG to make sure it's a Harley because there are so many copy cats. There's even a guy going to work at the same time as me with a Yamahaha that has loud pipes (don't sound like a Harley though), and set up just like mine. Most people (and probably him) wouldn't know the difference (that he's so cheap; I know I had one).
But I'm guilty too. The easiest way to tell a Harley is the batwing, or the big tire and fender design.
I am a beginner. Riding for 6 weeks. On Yorba Buena in Malibu was really curvy. Even as a beginner, I had an easier time that the big baggers.
I put bags on for longer rides and a windshield. With both of those, it won't look like a Sporty. Dyna's are easier to ride and more fun on windy roads.
I am having Mac problems so I cannot get the Picture of the bags on sorry.

Put bags on your Dyna and see if they can tell the difference ...
I'm about to do just that. Tomorrow I'm putting on my saddlebags, sissy bar bag and front fork bags getting ready for the wife and I to head to Calgary ,Canada, through Banff, Lake Louise..about 2000 mi + round trip from WA state. I'll take some pictures when I get it allset tomorrow, even Iam curious if it'll look like a bagger?
As far as other bikers go, I cut them abreak if they don't know, appreciate the ones who do, we all ride for the same reason!
Not sure if mine looks like a bagger or not ... could give a f' ... bike ignorance is ok but no time for someone if they want to get into 'mine is bigger/better/faster than yours' ... almost certainly theirs will have less miles on it this month and will be a lot cleaner ... just enjoy the ride
I had a guy tell me as he walked outta the Harley shop with all this cool Harley stuff on.... Shirt, Jacket, boots the works, He says wow that's the most chrome I have ever seen on a sportster! I said yeah it's alot.... wanna race this 883? Sure he said why not.....BTW he was on a bagger.... So we get to the light which was red..... and when it turned green all I saw was his big bagger bike in my mirrors.... I never looked back again and I never seen him again! I bet he said to himself wow that was one fast 883!
