I got the Quick Release from the MoCo for my '07 Low Rider. It works for me with some wind buffeting but hey we're riding motorcycles, a lil wind and buffeting comes with the territory.

I bought a HD Quick release detachable compact, standard height and didn't like it. Not because of the buffeting, it was minimal. I was looking through it and had never owned a w/s in many years of riding, so I sold it. I decided to try again and bought a HD quick release detachable compact, low profile lightly smoked. LOVE it! I can ride for long distances without fatigue of wind pushing on you and have easily run down the interstate at 85mph without objectionable buffeting. Alot seems to depend on wind conditions. If you want to know where the turbulance is coming from, feel around your chest and follow the draft with your hand.

07 StreetBob,

I've got a question for you... Sounds like you had the same original shield as I have, and not happy with.

If you put the two together, how much lower is the low profile, been thinking of cutting mine down.

Did you try cutting your original one down?

No I didn't travlinman. I had NEVER had a w/s and just figured I would sell it and forget about windshields. I went to local dealer and they let me try the low profile, I could see over the top and really liked it. I'm not sure on how much lower the low profile is, but I would guess a good 3". It's hard to say when I don't have 'em both anymore. I had both of them at the lowest position and I couldn't see over the top with the standard height at all. I can easily see over the top of the low profile and it's just right for me. I can straighten up in the seat with my head higher and wind still goes over my helmet. Hope this helps some. They say it's not that hard to cut down the windshield but I really don't know.

Thanks StreetBob,

Maybe I'll wait a little before cutting into it,see if anyone else has input first. This is my first (real) windshield, had a semi-fairing typeon my Triumph. That one was low, but also had a curve (curl) to push the air up and over, (something Harley doesn't seem to believe in, aerodynamics) whileit also had lower protection to keep air from coming up knocking the crap out of me.

It would be nice to have it figured out before winter gets here though.

Thanks again!

Here's a good article about how to cut down a windshield. Be patient, it might load a little slow, but it's worth the wait.

I'm with grizzly. I've run over twenty thousand miles with my WindVest windshield in the last year and a half. It's barely noticeable on the bike, knocks most of the wind off and when adjusted right in conjunction with a tank lift thereis little or no buffeting.

Good Luck

Tom

Some really good info in this thread. As it was when I bought pipes I am going to have to do some serious investigation before I plunk down my hard earned cash on one and this gives me a great start. I see that their is more to think about than just line of sight. If anyone else has had good luck with a particular product please chime in.
Thanks
