FXDX High Speed Wobble
Since buying the bike:
- installed Progressive fork springs with Maxima 20 wt oil 9.2 oz in each fork leg
- had Dunlop Elites mounted front/rear
Just before my last ride today I performed a 10k service which included:
- Repacked front and rear wheel bearings
- Removed swing arm and repacked the bearing
- Installed a Sputhe front and rear stabilizer kit
- I still need to check fall-away
The bike does feel much more planted and responsive around the back roads hitting corners with confidence. However, out on the highway today I did a lane change to the left lane and got on it hard. Once the bike started approaching about 85 I experienced a pretty nasty wobble and I had to back down. Was able to ride 75-80 the rest of the way home but I won't lie that killed my vibe for the rest of the day and I was pretty bummed since I heard the stabilizer setups practically eliminate the wobble. I am completely confident I installed the kit 100% correctly.
Other than the fall away that I still need to check, what should I be looking at?
I also reached out to Al at Rack and Pull to see if he knows of any pros in my area that utilize his alignment tools:
I had a wobble, fixed with the vibratechnics motor mount. Found that the wobble came back a few thousand miles later . Turned out to be loose spokes in my rear wheel. Got rid of them for one piece alloy wheels.

I know a fork brace is highly recommended on the 39mm (I run one on my Shovelhead 35mm), but I'd rather try these things first before throwing more money and parts at it.
