I placed all the parts on the bars and nothing hits the tank or tank caps. These are spare switch covers, the bike will be getting OEM black switch covers. So, I guess the next thing to do is make the throttle cable. I have a magnum BYO throttle cable with a 90 degree bend. This bike won’t have an idle cable because it hits the tank hard. I'm going to take a break. BTW, I'm putting the short front fender back on.

This is all about YOUR bike, YOUR look. Which clamp looks better to you?

Edit: if you like the one piece clamp for covering the center of the bars. There are many available with designs and colors on them. I was having issues with the sun hitting my clamp and right into my eyes. I bought a plain jane black one that look just like the stock one. I could have painted the stock, but I wanted to keep the stock one stock. For 20 bucks, it's a good clamp, just have heavy feeling as the stock one.

I have the fat bars on my bike. They neck down where the clamp goes to 1". "I" think leaving that exposed looks funny, so I kept the 1 piece clamp. If I was running 1" bars, I could have gone either way.

Your fuel caps look cool. For your clearance issue, did you consider maybe 1" or so higher risers? Just a thought.

For the bushings. I don't think I would like solids. I had to replace them on my bike, the stock ones were loose. I think I just got the J and P store brand probably rubber. Work fine for me.

If there is a way to route the throttle cables to keep the return cable, I would do that. If your throttle spring ever breaks, that cable will come in handy. With that said. I have 3 bikes without return cables. Two use a coil spring inside the carb body to push down the slide. The other has a standard hook end spring to close the butterfly. Sorta wish it has a return cable, but then you would need 4 throttle cables.

Keep us undated!

I'm using the two piece riser caps. I was just trying to let you all feel involved in the build, lol. Damned if I do. "It's your bike, do what you want!", "No, dont do that!", "Dont be one of those unliker people!" Crikey! LoL

Anyway, moving fwd, I made the throttle cable. The oem cable is on the bottom, the one I made is pictured on top.

I'll install it on the bike after I take a break, see how it works.

I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way. It IS YOUR bike. Build it to make it look like YOU want it to. There are some things like safety concerns that should be brought up and thought about. Then decide what you want to do.

The two piece clamp looks good, your bars have the right look to run them.

it's your ride but I prefer the OEM one piece stock clamp and I would use the polly bushings with the drag bars!!

I put the drag bars and risers off a 2008 Fat Bob on the bike. I stripped the black finish off the fat bob risers and polished them. The handlebar is brand new OEM. It had holes for internal wiring. I like it. The throttle and clutch cables from a 2008 Fat Bob should work just fine.

Trying out mirrors for the drag bars. A little further out should be just right. I can see my forearms and elbows with these, so I am going with some other mirrors, yet undecided:

I'll use these modern OEM stock Harley mirrors. These will be good, and get the bike back on the road. I can see very well out of these. I'll probably experiment with a different set later on - something a little more old school looking.

That is one sweet looking Dyna. Great work man, I like the direction you're going with it. The drag bars are definitely the way to go.

You've inspired me, I have a set of drag bars I've been considering putting on my bike. I may dig them up and see how they fit this weekend.
My bike currently has a set of Heritage Softail bars on it, and I also have a set of mini apes from a Street Bob, but I really dig the drag bar look.
