We have a 2016 Dyna street bob and we have been having some odd stall and stuck out of gear issues.
example:
we were in a 55 mph road coming to a stop sign turning right. Wife downshifted to 1st and then as she was turning (rolled the stop sign) the bike shook and died. We got it to the side of the road and could not find neutral until quite a long time of pushing back and forth and moving gears up and down until we finally found it.
my thoughts are that while she thought she was in 1st I have to assume she slowed way down in another gear and the bike didnt like it and stalled. Then got stuck in that gear. Possible?
this happens often on this bike and one of the things that concerns me is if the bike is not changing gears properly. Several times the bike will say one gear but be in something else. So much so my wife turned it off the speedometer so it wouldnt confuse her.
sorry for the random info but any idea where to start? We got the bike used this past fall from HD and I am not a mechanic. Any ideas how to verify if there is a gear shift issue? Is the fighting neutral after a stall normal on this bike?
The best way to learn about your bike is with a Service Manual. Hard to find neutral is a common problem. Start with adjusting the clutch and checking primary chain play. There's no indication of mileage on the bike, so it might even need a new clutch pack. There are a lot of "back yard mechanics" putting up videos on You Tube that are helpful. Hopefully, you now have a starting point to getit corrected.
If she doesn't know what gear it's in when she starts out, you don't know what gear it's in when it stalls. Have somebody who knows bikes take it for a test ride so they can tell you if there's anything wrong.
