New SP Concepts Lanesplitter Contacting Mid Control Bracket?
Just installed a SP Concepts Lanesplitter. Sounds awesome and looks great. Only issue is the front header pipe is hitting my mid conrtrol mounting bracket. I can feel it when I ride over rough road as well. I attached a picture. I have tried loosening, tighteting, wiggling, trying to adjust it but no dice so far...
Have you reached out to SP Concepts? All the pictures on their website shows the exhaust and mids play together. The pictures show plenty of room which makes me think your bracket is aftermarket or vise versa they use an aftermarket.
Yea, just emailed them last night. Got a response today and they have never seen this clearance issue before. There should be a decent sized gap between the pipe and mount.
I wonder if it has somethign to do with my engine mounts? or the way the engine is sitting in the frame?

For this to happen the engine must sit too high in the frame. It looks like the pipe is touching the foot peg mount, there should be at least 1/4" of clearance I think since the engine is rubber mounted and vibrates a fair bit.
If the engine was sitting too low I guess that could be caused by worn or faulty rubber mounts but sitting too high is harder to explain, 1/4" is quite a lot, more than just some misaligned bolts during assembly. I would be more inclined to think its the pipe that is to blame, or possibly the rear exhaust mount at the transmission.
Either way, dont run it until its fixed, the vibrations from the engine will hammer the pipe against the mid control mount, and these thin wall stainless pipes are brittle, they will crack somewhere.
Yea not too sure. So i noticed that after i rode the bike and it warmed up it gained some clearance.. but when it cooled back down for some reason it got tight against the mount again... It has to be something with the way the engine is sitting i would assume. If i find anything out ill update.
Have you tried loosening the bracket for the peg up? I can't explain it, but when I got my bike the bracket was resting on the pipe. In the process of trying to fix it, I took the bracket off and reinstalled it. When I did, the brake pedal was completely out of adjustment, but the bracket wasn't close to the pipe any longer.
