Default Fork lock stuck open

I have a 2014 FXDR with a fork lock issue. I just got the bike a couple months ago and the fork lock seemed to be working fine. Then when I went to lock it, the key wouldn’t go in the cylinder. The slots are not lined up. The inner slot is halfway between the locked and unlocked position. I gently tried to tap the inner slot clockwise towards the unlocked position. And I mean gently. It wouldn’t move. As it is, the front end works fine. Steering/turning normal.

Any ideas?

Question Fork lock bad? Or wrong key?

Are you sure you have the correct key for your bike?
I don't understand how the slots are not lined up.

On my 2000 model Dyna the top photo is the unlocked position (key turned counterclockwise).
Here's a suggestion: If you have two keys make sure they're both the same. File or grind off the little stud on the top of the key.

Shoot some WD-40 or similar lubricant into the lock. Let it sit overnight.
Next day, insert your key. Push it in and out a couple of times. You should feel a little bit of spring action in, and out (I feel that on my bike). Then try to rotate the key. If that doesn't work, take it to a locksmith.

Do a search of this forum on fork locks, there are tons of threads on fork locks, type in "Fork lock broke" and I'd bet they'll have the answer, there's youtube videos on fixing HD fork locks.

But whatever you do, don't let it beat you, show it who's boss!

I repaired vending machines for a living and all have cylinder locks. FYI - the little nub on the key that indexes into the cylinder, is called a tit. The lock slots don't line up with the correct key? File off the key tit. You now have a tit-less key.

That's along the line of my thought process. Without the "tit" the key will install in any of 360° degrees position into the lock. Imagine the numbers on a clock face.
The trick is to find the # position where the key grooves fit into the grooves on the barrel. Once the key and barrel notches align, then the key should be able to rotate and realign the lock slots.

After rethinking my last post, I will restate:
A "tit-less" key as previously described is the way to go. The tit inside of the barrel key will still be there and will align with the slot in the inner cylinder of the lock (see my pics).
Insert the tit-less key and turn it to align the lock slots.

.

Dyna key.
