1999 super glide
First ride report
went for my first ride today, put about 150 milestank went to resever. Good or bad for miles per gallon? Bike ran good for yhe first half of the ride then began to start alittle hard, by the time I got home did not want to start without some throttle. Bike was neglected for awhile, do not if it had bad gas to start with but going to go through the gas system. Tank has been refined on first check. I'll be back any suggestions

Bike was just bought last week, the guy had put fresh gas in how much I do not know. Bike has started good cold start chock no throttle after minute chock off. In side do not know what was in before that
Follow up on my first post, I took the gas gage out to get a better look inside. Everything look good, no rust or any unusual, I did remove the rest of the gas. Pulled the plugs alittle blacks tint but not bad. I'm thinking that's from the hard starting. Question has screaming eagle add-ons and the service records that l have said that they rejected it. If she running a little Rich, when hot and I restart if it flooding it self? Thanks

If the gas went bad, the carb may be gummed up and in need of a good cleaning.
I would take it off, totally disassemble the carb, thoroughly clean it (including the jets), reassemble with new wear parts, reset the float, then put it back on.
I would note the turns on the mixture screw when disassembling it, and start with that number when I put it back together.
See how she runs with a rebuilt, clean carb.
If not satisfied, I would start from scratch, going through the tuning process with the carb as is. If you follow the tuning process, it will tell you if you need bigger jets...
If you have the OEM CV40 carb (which I personally think is a great carb) the following company has instructions & guides for rebuilding/tuning and parts for a rebuild....

Thanks for the information, that is probably what I'm going do over the winter. I'm going to put some more fuel conditioner and mechanic in a bottle run that before winter sets in.
