Hello all, i just found an oil leak on the rear cylinder at the back, looks like its coming from the cover/cylinder joint . My bike is a 07 only has 16K miles on it its barely broken in. is this a known issue ?
Im hoping its possible too just tighten the cover bolts down , or should i take cover off and check head bolts?
If it's a leaky rocker box gasket, these are known to happen....
Pretty easy fix...
If it's from the rocker cover (top part), won't hurt to just try and tighten the bolts first, before replacing the gasket.
If it's from the rocker base (bottom part), it's a little more time/effort to remove the rocker cover to expose the rocker base bolts. At that point you're better off replacing the rocker base gasket, rather than trying to just tighten it up first...

How about uploading pictures with you pointing where the leak is coming from.
Looks like a lower rocker box leak. I wouldnt say 16k is barely broken in. Mine went at 20k on a sportster I had. As said earlier, clean the bike good. Then take it for a ride, you should be able to see where its coming from. Mine was on the same rear corner. Thats right where some hot oil would pool as its parked on the jiffy stand. Over time as the boxes expand and contract the gaskets get weepy there.

"hi ok heres some pics. ssee oil on fins cant quite tell if its from cover or heads ill investigate later when i can and post update"
Give it a close look over, but that leak is quite a bit above where the head and cylinders mate up with a head gasket.
I marked one of the head bolts in your pic. The head gasket is about 4 fins below that bolt.... Your leak seems to be well above that point. Oil doesn't usually leak UP. So I doubt it's a head gasket...
That looks like a Rocker gasket leak, possibly the the lower rocker base gasket...
