You MAY be able to order from them, but nowadays I think we are required to order from a dealer in our territory meaning, if theres a different dealer in your geographical area, youll need to place the order through them.
Go to the main HD site and search for the part # it should direct you to order it from the dealership who the MOCO feels deserves your business. 😉
You can also use your part number on Google with key words "Harley-Davidson P/N _______________. That will bring up ads for dealers who presently have the part in stock.
You can buy from any dealer, either Harley-Davidson anywhere or aftrmarket with no limitation. At one time when there was a shortage of new Harley-Davidson motorcycles the MOCO put a ban on dealers selling outside of their Zip Codes, but that was later lifted. Some of my acquaintnces in Sacramento, California we3e prohibited from buying bikes from dealers in Chico, CA or from Reno, Nevada.

Parts are different. No one except the MoCo is "allowed" to sell OE parts online out of their area. That started about the same time that they added the parts finder to the HD website. That's why Surdyke and pretty much all the rest stopped. Ronnie's still sells to anyone, anywhere but I don't know how they get away with it.
Not trying to contradict but I've been restoring my 2010 FXDWG for the past year. I've bought parts from five different Harley dealers nationwide with no problem including Ronnie's. Also, as I mentioned above, Google will list Harley dealers that have the part number that you insert in the search engine. Should be able to buy from any of them.
In general, however, eBay is a better bet for Harley Parts and I've found a lot of the needed ones on there.

Perfectly happy to admit I'm wrong and would love to have more sellers to work with, who were the other 4 dealers?

Here are some that I found on Google that I've bought from. I needed a spare Bezel for my Dash (P/N 68382-07B) and some rubber caps for the brake caliper bleeders (P/N 44147-87A). I started with eBay on Google and the HD dealers also came up.
There were more but I can't remember all of them. eBay will often bring up Harley dealers selling OEM parts there. Now that I recall I've spent about $2K on parts for my Wide Glide in the past year replacing broken stuff and removing unwanted modifications made by the previous owner. I may be a bit odd, but I like stock Harley-Davidsons so that's what i'm doing.
The message is that my money is good anywhere and so is yours!

Surdyke
HD Parts.org
J&P
Dennis Kirk
Surdyke stopped selling out of their area when the MoCo told them to, about 2 years ago. The HD parts site you listed is a recycler, JP and Dennis Kirk are not dealers and do not sell OEM parts. They sell brands that are basically the same (V-Twin etc.) but are not OEM Harley boxed parts. Still waiting for the list of 4 dealers.
