Looking for a few tips on the installation of the HD hard bags on my dyna. Has anyone ever set up these factory bags to be detachable? It would be nice to use these for trips and remove them for just banging around. Any help on either installation would be great.

I was talking about the two bolts per side that go into the fender struts. No hardware left. And yes you would have to replace the long bolt with shorter ones to keep the fender on.
Icecaps, I have ordered the same units and will receive them any moment now. Still I was really annoyed when I learned that all the mounting hsrdware came painted in black, including the relocation of the indicators. If you remove the bags for a short run you are left with a lot of black round bars, including the ones that hold the indicators in place; a really ugly scene to look at. Icecaps, can you include some photos with and without your hard bags? I would really appreciate it.
Sorry, I can't get you any pics right now as I am in Japan and away from my bike.
I did not use the brackets in the hard bag kit to relocate my turn signals, I used the HD laydown license plate kit P/N 60215-06 that way the signals are not part of the mounting brackets. I can remove all the bags, spacers, bolts, and brackets and replace them with two short boltsto mount the fenders to the struts.
Damm it!, I ordered the indicator relocation kit with the angled licence holder, but the supplier, trying to make me save some money told me that the bags came with a relocation kit... When I saw the mounting instructions I realized how bad that would look without the bags. Let's see what I can invent in order to avoid using all that ugly hardware.. Thanks a million for the photos, great looking bike and the hard bags look great on the Dyna. Don't think much though about those fabby leather ones....Take a look at what my bike looks like while waiting for the bags.

Thanks for the response on the bag installation. Now that I have the bags in hand I see that this won't be to hard to figure out. Icecaps that is one hell of bike you have. I also have the front fairing like you have, but for some reason I can't get it to fit my bike. I have a 05 FXDX and it seems like the headlight is keeping the fairing from making contact with the docking hardware. any help you can give me would be great.
