Default 2002 Dyna Muffler Question.

Recently purchased a very clean 2002 Low Rider with 13K miles, to keep my Road Glide company. It's in very good shape and almost completely stock, but it's dang loud (sounds good....LOL).
I may leave it just as it is, however, were there originally additional baffles in these OEM pipes?
Upper pipe shown.

Congrats, I am jealous!

What pipe(s)? Can't tell by the one pic, but you definitely can do with a smaller ID baffle in the one

I see the pics, now! I am on the search. I think I know what goes in there

If it were mine, it would just get a new Thunderheader

Thanks - Tempting, but given the condition, I may leave her stock in case I flip it, and it runs darn good as is, (plus, I'm a senior citizen....lol).

I found the stock part number for the muffler 65747-90A, but can find no replacement baffles or parts for the muffler.

You may have to go aftermarket

Yes, I figured that, Thanks. I was wondering in fact, if these original OEM mufflers had an additional baffle (which had been removed?) or if they are in their normal, original condition.

I know exhaust sounds are subjective, but IMHO...

When I bought my then new 2003 Heritage, with one year newer EPA exhaust requirements, I didn't last a week before going to Stage I mods. Mostly because of the sound. The OEM exhaust was way too quiet for me.

I'm gonna guess that if you have the OEM mufflers on that bike (and it looks like you do), they have been modified if you consider them "dang loud".

You might do well to look for some good SE or aftermarket mufflers. If something was removed in the OEM mufflers, chances are it can't be replaced (ie: it was drilled out).

The Screamin' Eagle mufflers back then were made by Cycle Shack (sadly went out of business in 2010ish in a dispute with the MoCo). They made some of the best sounding SE mufflers Harley ever offered. They had a nice deep tone, but weren't too loud.

Thanks @hattitude
As loud as it is.....they must have been drilled out. If you look carefully at the muffler tips interior, the hole left behind by a metal hole saw appears slightly off-center, as evidence of drilling.
Love the sound but she is almost straight pipe loud. Not popular with the neighbors.....LOL. I may leave it as is.

The pic you show of the OEM Dyna muffler has been modified.
When I bought my 2000 FXDWG WideGlide it came with Vance&Hines straight shots. The guy also gave the original exhaust that he had removed.

Just for kicks I cut off the ends of the mufflers, a minimal amount and removed the baffle and fiberglass packing. I then installed Vance&Hines baffles inside the OEM mufflers, they sound good. There's a YouTube video that shows the process. Though in the video the guy is in the UK, he removes baffles that have built in catalytic converters. Of course my 2000 Dyna didn't have catalytic converters in the mufflers but, the process I did was basically the same. The guy in the video wrapped fiberglass around the V&H baffles before he installed them, I did not use fiberglass wadding, as he calls it.

The perforated tube inside the muffler in your pic looks exactly like what I removed from my OEM muffler. That's the tube that had the fiberglass wrapped around it. There also was a smaller diameter tube inside the one showed in your pic.

Here's the video.

My 2001 fxdwg mufflers look identical to that. I thought they were drilled out as well. The dealer said they were harley slip-ons with a 2” perforated baffle.
