I did it on my 2001 XL; was a bolt on, plug & play with HD parts. I bought a bare bones 883 and built it up to a 100HP 1200; tach was needed. Have you got the HD PN for your bike? Part number should end in -00 or -99. Should be easy to find availability then with our friend Mr Goggle...

I like what you did with your bike. The white walls, fork boots, tank badge, and that seat give it an old school, Ironhead look. Good job.
I have searched all over the net with no results , no kits available. I have found one through eBay #67224-04 for $399.00 plus shipping and had another forum member send me the info from Harley Davidson with the complete install instructions from HD for a 67224-95B. I know they cover a few years, but not exactly for my 2000FXD Superglide. By the way, nice bike looks clean/tight.
I am thinking these tachs are really hard to find as advised by forum members. With most sellers trying to get huge prices for this stuff, plus the shipping charges, and not even sure it will fit, I am going to wait or go without. I don't need it that bad. Thanks to all who tried to help it is appreciated.
@1madmouseHere's a link to the H-D Instruction Sheet for the Tachometer kit.
The tachometer's p/n is 67042-99. If you search Ebay for this p/n you'll find multiple sellers...

Googled the chrome part number and the first part that came up was a Harley tach for newer models. Not sure why that came up. Second part was an eBay listing for what youre looking for $119 doesnt seem too bad
The problem I am having is no wiring plug in and no info about if these tachometers will work on my ride. The first I found was a kit to add a tachometer, but not sure if it will work or has all the parts. I don't really want a wiring nightmare. I know many will say easy to wire, but I have heard some people having problems with they work, maybe half speed . Aftermarkets don't have kits that I have found yet and I want to match my existing speedometer. So bigger headache than I wanted for now, I'll just wait a bit. I do appreciate all the input from all of you here at the best forum for our rides. Thanks.
