How hard is it to add a Tach to my 2000 FXD Superglide having just a speedometer mounted on the handlebar riser now? I see the double brackets online, but not sure if it can be done.
I've never done it, but I would think it should be plug and play once you have the double bracket. I think the bike may already be wired for it but I'm not 100% sure of that.
Being it has electronic components as opposed to mechanical you need the correct tach and it should be plug and play.
But Ive been known to be wrong about newer bikes.
It's easy as far as adding one. All you need is a FXDX tachometer.. The problem is finding one.. The harness will have the pink wire for the tach. Just connect up power and ground and the pink wire in the speedo connector.
You might find and autometer tach that will work but it won't look the same style as the stock HD.

I have loo9ked all over and found one on eBay that is an open box kit #67224-04, but looks like it has all the wires and parts . $399.00 off eBay seems a bit high plus $22.95 shipping. I hate to spend that much for something from eBay that is a maybe. Haven't seen anything else close. I would buy new if I could find the right kit. Maybe I don't really need it that bad. Thanks for all the info and links from you guys, it is appreciated.
