I really don't see that's possible. Unless the camplate bearings are completely shot. Are you able to send pics? If you set the cams in then try to install the plate how do you plan to press the cam into the bearing and install the chain and then the tensioner?

This is how I am going to remedy this.
Using the tensioner tool isn't working because of the pin in the tool is affecting my attemp to pin it up.
This will make it easier to pin and then install the plate. Then I can yank the pin to release it onto the chain.
Small wire rope through the tension pin and the using the tensioner pin to hook the tensioner. Evenly distribute the stress on tensioner frame. I'm sure there's going to be doubters.
Yeah I'm sorry man but I just don't think you know what you're doing. Maybe, who knows, you can't explain things very clearly.
I will tell you though to try to lower the tensioner slowly and not let it "snap" against the chain.
