PV4 live gauge connectivity
I had run an autotune session prior and was watching engine rpm and engine temperature live gauges when out of nowhere, the live gauges stopped responding and the values went to zero, my check engine, battery, and security light all came on but the bike continued on as normal.
I reached out and closed the app and almost instantly, check engine, security, and battery light all went out.
Anybody experience this sort of thing before? I'm not sure if its something to do with the bike, the tuner, or my phone?
I did hit snags with a Koso tach interfering with the bus on my PV1, any other aftermarket electronics on the bus?
I’d call DJ, or FM, they will have the best advice. Good luck.
I've continued to ride with mine connected since the episode I described in my post above and it has not happened again. It has also never happened with the PV4 on my other bike, (a '22 Road Glide 107).
I think I've decided that it couldn't have been a failed bluetooth connection because my check engine, battery, and security light came on at the same instant that the live gauges went dark.
Logically speaking, at that moment the PV4 was only monitoring since the tune had previously been flashed to the bike and was not sending data to the ecm. So I'm thinking the ECM experienced some type of error that tripped the lights.
I probably won't continue running the live gauges because doing so kills my phone battery very quickly. And I'm happy with the results I'm seeing from two autotune sessions run with the PV4 unit, but I WOULD like to know why my ECM flaked out...
I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this and was concerned enough to research the cause.
What Dyno jet tried to do was make a more affordable tuner and it really kind of failed and bit them in the ***.. They've been having several software issues with that unit. Sure if you want to save a few bucks and go with it fine, whatever floats your boat.. At that point might even get a Fuel Pack for the same price.
The best tuner they made was the PV2-b. Yes it's a little more expensive but it's one of the best tuners on the market other than a ThunderMax..
Remember you got what you pay for..
I do not have an Apple phone. I didn't choose the PV4 because of what it cost. If I wanted Thundermax, I'd buy one for each bike tomorrow. Don't need a Thundermax for a Stage I tune and liked the idea of flashing tunes via bluetooth.
Length of membership and post count be damned...I've not heard negative comments about this unit...sorry, I spend waay more time on my bikes than I do on this forum.
I wasn't attacking the man. I was surprised to hear his displeasure with the tuner.
Disregard my question and have a great evening gentlemen

When I went PV4 I bought a wireless quadlock charger/mount ( which is awesome ) for my phone that fits to my risers. My hope was that the whole setup. would be as close as possible to what I had, but it's just not close. The app has never been right. That being said, I live in an area with pretty shotty cell service. How much network access affects the app's ability to operate is a variable that I haven't heard anyone talk about.
At the end of the day it served it's purpose. They were able to pull the license and tune my bike. So it's not a total letdown.

At the end of the day, I have a great-running Stage I bike and that's all I was after from the start. I was able to tighten up the throttle response a bit more using the autotune feature as a bonus.
I think I'll follow your example and throw the tuners in the tool box and just ride the bikes.
Thank you.
