I have a 03 FXDWG that doesn't have the factory security system on it. The bike was bought used so I assumed the previous owner removed it. I looked all over for it, but nothing. Also,I have no fob. I've looked all over and I can't find a factory system either new or used. Question is, has anyone installed an aftermarket security system on there bike that would be just as good or better.
Yep, Ruger Security 9, 1 in the chamber and 15 hollow points in magazine, mounted on my hip.
This type of answer always seems to pop up, but exactly how does carrying a gun keep someone from stealing your bike, because you sure as hell can`t shoot them, you can`t pull your weapon on them, and even if you could, you aren`t going to be watching your bike all the time...
@EppsHD : You are not going to find an OEM security system for that bike, the turn signal/security modules have long been out of production.

A lot of people have replaced their TSSM modules for TSM modules to get rid of the fob and alarm. So there should be a few TSSM:s lying around for second hand purchase I would think.
Maybe put an ad in the Buy&Sell section of the forum.
And for completeness, TSSM is Turn Signal Security Module, TSM is without the Security part
And just out of curiosity, regarding the gun suggestion. At least here shooting someone for trying to steal a motorcycle would for sure land the shooter in prison.

Is it really different over there?
Depends on the state in the USA. In some states individuals are not allowed to defend themselves at all if they "could have run away". Other states allow protection of property and person. Laws in the USA for the past 50 years restricted individuals rights, while allowing more the government and corporations to do more.
How many times have you heard a car alarm go off and never even looked to see where it came from. If they want it bad enough, a couple of 2x4s and a pick up truck/van and its gone before you get your pants on. Sad, but true. Best bet is to try and keep it out of sight.

No.... but it's no that simple.
Any lethal force scenario is dynamic... They can quickly change back & forth between justified and unjustified use of lethal force, depending on the actions of the suspect at the moment you pull the trigger.
Generally speaking. justified lethal force is reserved for the protection of life. You will be hard pressed to justify the use of lethal force to protect only property..
