Just picked up an 08 fxd from a close friend. Performance wise it’s top notch. He ran tbars and mids. I wanted to try and ride her how she was built but in boots I’m 6’3 with long legs. The mids feel like my knees are against my chest and I was having trouble getting my foot below the shift peg. Are forward controls the answer or is there a way to adjust the mids for comfort?
Harley P&A offers (they used to, anyway) further forward mid controls. Obviously way quicker and cheaper than installing actual forward controls. I don't know if they will solve the problem or not but it's worth looking into.
There have been some posts on this forum, so do a search.
If you like the mids, adjust the shifter and add a set of highway pegs out front.
I run mids with highway pegs and love it.
I had the same set-up on my '16 Low Rider. You can adjust the shifter and the brake pedal up & down a little bit to find that sweet spot...
I learned from '78 & '80 Low Riders.... with highway pegs, I did most the shifting up & down with my left heel. I also did most the braking with my right heel. I rarely put my feet on the mid pegs..
