So the repair here is pull the outer primary and replace the seal(s) on this shaft ?

I have no idea what any of these parts are actually called so I’m speaking generally.

And gracias for the help !

You know what they say about guys with big feet, that'd stop your shaft hole leak in a hurry.

All you should need to get things fixed up is #23 and I'd probably replace #16 instead of trying to reuse it.

That's pretty much it. Get the bike level, pull the left foot peg assembly off, drain the primary, pull the outer primary cover, clean the mating surfaces and replace the $1.30 gasket, use a new primary gasket and replace the outer primary, refill, replace other parts you removed and you're done. It's a pretty easy job.

Go here and look up your bike, you'll find all part info you need.

I forgot that you'll have to pull the derby cover to fill the primary, so you'll want to replace that gasket too, and of course you'll need primary oil. FuelMoto told me is to use dino oil in the primary because synthetic will cause clutch slippage. I'm sure that statement will cause a ruckus and maybe r0u/\/d3r$ will chime in too.

Thanks man, now if I can only get the parts counter at my dealer to pick up… I’ll be on my way to a dry primary…

The clutch slippage thing is interesting. Makes sense though as we use a specific trans oil with in my race car for the clutch type LSD to prevent it from slipping when undesired Sounds similar from a principle level.

I've tried type F trans fluid in the primary before and it seemed to burn up quicker with my energy +1 extra plate clutch pack.. I primarily always used primary oil seeing it's specifically made for that function and never had any issues with that.. So I still recommend using regular primary fluid..
