Had my PV2 mounted on the bike for quite a while. Never caught in the rain, never any abuse but I noticed the other day that the display was black as I rolled down the road. Tested just now and here's the deal. Switch the bike on, engine not running, PV starts, and displays my chosen guage setup after a few seconds. I start the bike and the display goes black/the unit turns off. Behavior is repeatable. Plug connection is solid, no tears in the cable. Ideas?
Over voltage or RF interference from the ignition system. That all I have. Do you have another bike to check the PV2 with? At least you would know if your bike is the problem, or the PV itself.

Good suggestion, I do have another bike but it's a '22 so I think the connector is different, I'll have to check.
When you turn ignition on the PV comes on no problem as it should... Ok.. so when you go to start it goes black which it will because the starting operation interrupted the power to the PV which is normal but should still boot back up.. I would think there is a vibration connection issue somewhere.. You can try and reload the current tune "BUT" I would call Dynojet first to see what they say.
Had some time to do more testing yesterday. Symptoms are inconsistent so it's some kind of internal wiring or soldering issue. I was able to disconnect and reconnect the PV while the bike was running and it powered up. Powering the bike off and back on again proved that the PV would not power up again until disconnected and reconnected. Moving to a USB connection via my PC is worse. Disconnecting and reconnecting sometimes worked, sometimes did not.
I reached out to FuelMoto and they suggested doing a full device recovery and I can tell you right now, that is NOT the answer. I sent a message to PowerVision from their help page, and we'll see what kind of response I get. I'll update the thread when I get answers.
Well, never let it be said that I'm not big enough to admit when I'm wrong. It appears that restoring the device with brand new software fixed the issue. I've been writing software for the last 31 years and architecting it for 1/2 that and no product I have ever been involved with suddenly developed an issue out of nowhere that periodically takes out its hardware. Oh well, I just had to copy all the stored tunes to my PC and the restore was easy, well once I could get the PV to power up. We'll see how it works once it's back on the bike, but at my desk it powers up every connection.
I'll add one more thing. With the new software I receive a warning message that I have to click accept on to start the device up. It's programmed much like a cars infotainment system where it shows up every so often, not every time. Still kind of irritating when I don't notice it until 80mph and can't keep my finger still enough to poke the button.
