Thanks Jman and blkdimon. I didn't waste any time getting the mods done because I can't ride it while I'm here. I figured it's best to have it done now instead of when I'm home so I don't miss out on riding time then too. If I did the mods myself, it would take away more time from the family, but I've already been away for 16 months. (I love tinkering with my bikes too)
Jake- I bought mine at the LSA Anaconda trailer...they didn't really know anything about Harley's...but I had a couple of friends lead me down the right path. Wish I had known about the custom paint stuff...
I went by the Baghdadtrailer by the Embassy...they weren't open--was going to make them fess up another t-shirt. But I did get a cool Harley Baghdad beach towel at the hadji shop in front of the PX!
Good luck--hang in there...I will see you guys soon enough on the next roll.

You got it through AAFES, right? If so, how much did you save? I was told that guys buying through AAFES were saving several thousand dollars, but I think that's a bit exagerated.
I've only been up to Anaconda once to catch a bird on my way out on leave. What a PITA that whole ordeal was. LOL
Even though you didn't get a custom paint, you can alwasy strip your bike over the winter and have a repuatable painter do your tins for you, or you can go through Harley with their custom painted tins. Some painters will do a tin swap too. I'm sure someone hear knows a great painter that may do a tin trade so you don't have to wait on yours to be painted. Just a thought.
No way did I save thousands...it ended up being a little more than saving 10%. I'm not sure I got the best deal either--I walked away onceand they did not come at mewith acheaper price. They also failed to tell me about the drop in 08' prices as well. But I got a cool t-shirt and it was at home when I landed--all good.
I thought about getting another when I go back--scheduled for Jan 08...but I am dropping retirement papers in Nov and popping smoke--I'm done, I'll gladly pay the 10% additional. 3 times is enough.

Well, 10% is 10% I guess...lol I paid MSRP plus what I put into it before picking her up and I didn't go through AAFES, I bought directly through my local dealer who I've known most of my life. His son and I were best friends in high school.
You're correct, 3x's is enough, so enjoy your retirement. I've been here for about 16 months now and my contract ends in December (I'm a contractor, not military), and I think I'm extending until the middle of next year. Being here I believe that I've earned the shirt too...lol
