Power commander 5 question

Power commander 5 question
I just purchased a 2012 Wide glide and it has a power commander 5 already installed. The bike has Vance and Hines big radius pipes stock air filter. When I roll off the throttle the bike pops and cracks a lot. Do i need to update the map or do I need something else?

Decel pop is unburnt fuel in the exhaust. It can be due to a too lean mixture, or too rich mixture.
A poor tune or exhaust leaks can also cause, or exacerbate, the issue.
I have read that the shorter exhausts are harder to tune properly, which can lead to decel pop.
It would then follow that a canned map for short exhausts wouldn't be as forgiving as many canned maps, and could allow decel popping..
There are ways to minimize the decel popping, or remove it altogether, if you go to a good tuner. Not sure if a Power Commander 5 can make those changes..

Short pipes are prone to decel pop. IMO
But before we open that debate, make sure you have no leaks at the exhaust port
